Acsa has welcomed Condor Airlines’ decision to operate direct flights from Frankfurt to Johannesburg, said Charles Shilowa, Acsa Group Executive: Strategy and Sustainability in a statement.

The German-based leisure airline announced its intention to launch two weekly flights between Frankfurt International Airport and Johannesburg’s ORTIA from November 4.

The route will supplement Condor's seasonal Cape Town flights during the Northern hemisphere winter season. Flights were suspended over the past two years due to the impact of COVID-19, but Travel News understands this route will also resume this year –  from November to April 2023.

“The new direct flights will add much-needed traffic from Europe to South Africa, helping to reignite the tourism sector, a key driver of economic activity and job creation in the country," said Shilowa.

The planned schedule:

  • Frankfurt to Johannesburg: DE2088, Mondays, 21:55-09:55+1
  • Frankfurt to Johannesburg: DE2088, Fridays, 20:25-08:25+1
  • Johannesburg to Frankfurt: DE2089, Tuesdays and Saturdays, 19:15-05:25+1
