Rail Europe opens more Europe travel options

Rail Europe announced the integration of Deutsche Bahn connections to Denmark, effective October 4.

This addition broadens cross-border travel options for B2B partners via RailAPI, RailFlash and Rail Portal.

This inventory expands access to Denmark’s iconic cities and breathtaking landscapes, extending to Germany and beyond. In addition to well-known routes such as Hamburg to Copenhagen, the connection will facilitate connections to and from key cities in several neighbouring countries. For instance, travellers can journey between the Netherlands and Denmark, from Odense to Amsterdam, Switzerland and Denmark, from Zürich to Aarhus, and Belgium and Denmark, from Brussels to Fredericia. Similarly, travellers from the Czech Republic can reach Copenhagen from Prague.

New high-speed Brussels-Amsterdam train

Dutch train operator, NS International, will launch a new, high-speed train between Lelystad, Amsterdam South and Brussels South on December 15.

The train, EuroCity Direct, will run every hour, 16 times a day. The trip will take two hours, 45 minutes faster than the current NS International train, according to NLTimes.

The train will stop in Almere Buiten, Almere Centrum, Amsterdam Zuid, Schiphol, Rotterdam Central station, Antwerp Central Station and Brussels South.

This service will take roughly the same amount of time as the Eurostar train, the fastest current service between the two cities, but will cost less. The trip on the Eurostar will cost €77 (R1 470) reports Business Traveller, whereas the cheapest ticket on the EuroCity Direct train is €29 (R553).
