Paris-Milan trains resume

Trenitalia France resumed operations between Paris and Milan, via Turin, on April 1 after nearly two years’ suspension.

Services were suspended in August 2023 after a landslide in the French Alps caused damage on the route. The journey takes between six-and-a-half and seven hours, according to Timeout.com.

The rail operator is also launching a new service between Paris and Marseille from June 15. Four round trips will operate per day, taking three hours and 20 minutes.

China launches ‘hotel’ train

A new tourist train, featuring hotel-like services, will connect scenic destinations in Henan from mid-April.

Developed by CRRC Sifang and China Railway Zhengzhou Group in Henan province, the train will connect destinations in the province, including Luoyang, Anyang and Sanmenxia.

The train is managed with hotel-style service standards and offers gourmet meals by renowned chefs, interactive cultural activities, a tea lounge, game room and karaoke zone, according to chinadaily.com.

There are 14 soft sleeper cars (a compartment class typically used on Chinese trains offering more comfort, privacy and amenities) with double, triple and quadruple bed compartments, and a dining car.
