Amtrak debuts new Airo trains

Amtrak has introduced its new Airo trains on the Amtrak Cascades route in the Pacific Northwest, connecting Vancouver, Seattle, Portland and Eugene.

Two trainsets began operating four daily trips last week, with more trains to be added by early 2027.

The new trains feature more than 300 seats, panoramic windows, complimentary Wi-Fi, power and USB outlets, improved accessibility and refreshed café facilities offering food and beverage options inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

The Airo fleet will be introduced on other Amtrak routes, with the Northeast Regional expected to receive its first trains from late 2027.
