UK payments solutions provider, Equals Money, has revealed that 26% of consumers are more likely to book with a travel agent now than they were five years ago, according to new data derived from a survey conducted by the company, according to ttgmedia.com.

What’s more, a third of those consumers said they were willing to pay more for expert advice and local insights from their travel agent.

40% of customers surveyed said that during the current economic uncertainty, booking through an agent was more reliable than booking direct; 48% of respondents said booking through an agent was more secure, while 36% highlighted that when booking through an agent they felt that they didn’t have to worry about a supplier going under.

The survey revealed that leisure travellers were now more likely to turn to a travel agent to ease their travel money worries and 63% of those customers surveyed said they would expect the agent to offer advice on currency exchange issues.
