Travel Counsellors launches interactive itineraries

14 May 2025

Travel Counsellors South Africa has launched its interactive itineraries, offering customers a more immersive and engaging way to explore their travel plans.

Developed in-house over the past 12 months and launched in South Africa on May 13, the new feature is fully integrated into the myTC platform and app, and it transforms traditional, static travel documents into visually rich, multimedia itineraries, enabling Travel Counsellors to present quotes in a more personalised and compelling way, all while ensuring a seamless end-to-end customer journey.

Following a successful pilot involving over 80 Travel Counsellors, the technology is now being rolled out across the wider global community of over 2 200 Travel Counsellors. The interactive itineraries include rich destination content based on package sales from the in-house booking tool, Phenix. It blends captivating storytelling, vibrant imagery and practical travel tips to inspire and inform customers at every stage of their trip.

Jon Bauer, Chief Technology Officer at Travel Counsellors, said: “We’re excited to introduce our interactive itineraries feature, representing another step forward in how we use technology to enhance the personal touch that our Travel Counsellors offer. By reimagining traditional itineraries as dynamic, content-rich journeys, we’re not only improving customer engagement but also giving our business owners back valuable time, enabling them to focus on what they do best – building strong, lasting relationships with their customers and clients."

Kerith Hulme, Gold Travel Counsellor, commented on her experience using the technology. “Interactive itineraries is a great tool to help our customers visualise their trip. It adds another dimension to what we are offering our clients.”

Vanessa de Vere, Travel Counsellor, commented: “It was great to be among the first to try out the new interactive itineraries feature. I've already used it to send my first quotes, and the client response has been amazing. One standout example was a complex New Zealand itinerary for a brand-new client. I guided them through it all over the phone, as they’d just signed up to myTC and they booked with me immediately!”

The launch follows Travel Counsellors’ acquisition of Planisto which has played a key role in accelerating the platform’s content development capabilities, paving the way for future innovation.
