Uber, in partnership with Aquila Private Game Reserve, has launched ‘Uber Safari’ in Cape Town.

As the latest experience in Uber’s ‘Go Anywhere’ series of limited-edition travel products, Uber Safari will be exclusively available on the Uber app from October 1, 2024, until February 1, 2025.

The full-day trip includes a pick-up in Cape Town in an Uber Safari-branded vehicle for transportation to Aquila Private Game Reserve.

Upon arrival at Aquila, guests will enjoy a welcome toast and lunch before boarding a traditional safari vehicle with experienced game rangers and field guides. During the game drive, guides will ensure that guests have the best opportunity to see the Big Five.

After the adventure, guests will have access to Aquila’s grounds before heading back to Cape Town.

Reservations will be available from October 1 and will be bookable 24 hours to 90 days in advance. Uber Safari will run on Fridays and Saturdays until February 1. The cost is US$200 (R3 550), and the trip can accommodate up to four guests (the Uber Safari-branded vehicle on the way to Aquila). The safari vehicle at Aquila can accommodate up to 22 guests.

"We’ve designed our ‘Go Anywhere’ series to help our customers book bucket-list adventures with the Uber convenience they know and love,” said Frans Hiemstra, Regional GM of Uber in the Middle East and Africa. “With Uber Safari – one of our wildest offerings to date – our Reserve technology makes it easier than ever to unlock an epic South African travel experience.”

The availability of Uber Safari trips is expected to be limited. Clients are encouraged to book in advance using Uber’s Reserve technology. Uber Safari will be visible to all riders in South Africa.

Uber’s ‘Go Anywhere’ series, has already launched Uber Bubbles (a champagne tour) in Paris, Uber Balloon (hot-air balloon ride) in Cappadocia and Uber Boat in Mykonos.
