Venice city officials say they will extend the recently introduced day-tripper tax through 2025.

Furthermore, the days on which the tax must be paid will be expanded to every Friday to Sunday and on public holidays from April 18 through July 27.

The tax is enforced from 08h30 until 16h00.

The tax will also double to €10,80 (R206,20) for last minute visitors, however, it will remain at €5,40 (R103,10) for tourists who make reservations at least four days in advance.
