Visitor survey delivers surprising results

THE first phase of a comprehensive visitors survey for the Cape Peninsula National Park (CPNP) has been completed and figures have exceeded expectations, registering 4,7 million visitors per year.
So reports CPNP survey co-ordinator, Jeanette de la Harpe, who told Travel Now that primary sites such as Signal Hill delivered an average of 4 000 people per day. Figures were obtained from 65 entry points at the park, 10 primary sites, 11 medium usage sites, six paypoints and the remainder being low usage sites.
"We are in the process of analysing the qualitative data on visitors' and operators' needs, expectations and likes and dislikes of the park, but I can say that from what we've seen so far, the ratings have been high - which is encouraging."
