Water taxis to combat congestion around Bali airport

A new water taxi service will connect Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to the island’s coastal resorts by the end of the year, helping to combat the island’s road traffic crisis.

Deputy Minister for Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, revealed that the programme would be operational by December and would connect tourists to Kuta, Seminyak, and Uluwatu, according to thebalisun.com.

Trials, using traditional jukung boats, indicated that travel time between the airport and Seminyak and Uluwatu was 35-40 minutes.

When the programme is officially launched, motorised boats will be used, reducing the travel time to around 25-30 minutes.

By road, travel to these destinations could be 30 minutes to over an hour depending on the traffic.
