Zim airline grounded

Zimbabwean carrier, FlyAfrica is temporarily grounded while
they transfer aircraft from an ACMI (temporary lease) to a permanent lease.

The airline told eTNW that
contrary to local media reports, their AOC (air operator’s certificate) has not
been revoked. “After consultations and guidance
from Caaz (Civil Aviation Authority Zimbabwe), we took the decision to move the airlines operating aircraft leases
from an ACMI (wet lease) arrangement to a permanent (dry lease) arrangement.
This exercise should conclude soon and see us unreservedly return to the
skies.”

FlyAfrica added that it had been granted the Bulawayo-Harare route and will finalize its schedule in
the coming days.

An ACMI is an  bold">aircraft leasing arrangement exclusively used between two
airlines whereby one airline (the lessor) provides an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and
insurance (ACMI) to another airline (the lessee), which then pays for the hours
operated.
