Abuja to get mixed-use development

Construction of a new mixed-use development in Abuja has begun, paving the way for an improved travel experience in the Nigerian capital.

City Walk, a 25-hectare mixed-use masterplan on Airport Road, will feature a new business district with what it says will be Africa’s tallest tower, as well as an art district and retail development.

The masterplan is centred around a north–south corridor running from the active northern gateway on Airport Road, home to the arena and tower, and a hub for food, art and nightlife, to the quieter southern zone, which will house residential compounds and landscaped gardens.

Phase one of the development is currently under way and includes the art district, which will offer retail and public leisure spaces, along with a boulevard leading to an event piazza.

A river park along the southern edge of the development will provide landscaped paths and pedestrian routes along the Ravine ecological corridor.
