Web in Travel (WiT) Africa returns to Innovation City in Cape Town on March 12 and March 13, bringing together the brightest minds in travel and technology under the theme ‘Next Generation’. This year’s event will focus on some of the industry’s top-performing companies and start-ups, innovation in distribution and cutting-edge developments in travel.

WiT conferences have been driving industry conversations since 2005, under the leadership of WiT Founder, Siew Hoon Yeon. The Africa edition mirrors the format of its global counterparts in Singapore, Seoul, Dubai and the US. Attendees include top executives from airlines, hotel groups, safari lodges, OTAs and industry disruptors.

With a maximum of 200 attendees, WiT Africa will offer an intimate networking environment with the opportunity to interact with global speakers and industry leaders.

Mentoring the next generation

One of the highlights of WiT Africa 2025, will be held the day before the main event – an invitation-only Next Generation Roundtable taking place on March 12.  Here, industry mentors from around the world will engage with under-35s selected from various stakeholders and academic institutions. This session will feature panel discussions and networking opportunities aimed at travel’s future leaders.

Key topics and discussions

The following day (March 13), WiT Africa’s Main Stage event will kick off with a full-day of panel discussions, fireside chats, keynotes and networking. Topics will include:

  • The Future of Travel Distribution: How Gen AI and new technologies are reshaping the industry
  • The Financial Sector’s Role in Travel: Insights from leading banks and insurers
  • Travel Disruptors: Lessons from companies outside of travel that have reshaped their industries
  • Legacy vs Next Gen Technology: The urgent need for younger talent in aviation and travel technology
  • Regional Innovation: Rwanda’s approach to solving travel challenges

Discussing the upcoming event, Stephan Ekbergh, Founder and CEO of Travelstart, a partner of WiT, says: “With Gen AI, giant leaps in technology, and all sorts of machinations, fragmentation, and consolidation happening in distribution and marketing throughout the value chain, it can all start to feel a bit confusing. During WiT Africa, we will start to unpack what these developments could mean for our industry. It’s an opportunity to drink from the fire hose and start to prepare for a completely different future.”
