Air Peace commences direct flights to London

Nigerian carrier Air Peace has announced it will commence flights between Lagos and London from March 30.

Flight P47578 will operate five weekly services between Tuesday and Saturday, departing Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 00h10, and arriving at Gatwick Airport at 06h40. Return flights on P47579 will depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from London Gatwick at 11h10 and arrive in Lagos at 17h40.

The airline recently released the starting date of the direct flights on social media, saying the flight marked Air Peace’s entry into the UK. Air Peace will be the sole carrier on the route.

The long-awaited connection was delayed while Air Peace received a foreign carrier operator permit, which it secured in November last year.

Oluwatoyin Olajide, CEO of Air Peace told Nigerian publication The Cable that, “Since securing its authorisation to fly into the UK, after satisfying all the requirements, the issue of slot allocation at Gatwick Airport has been the major obstacle preventing the airline from commencing the direct flight into London.”

The connection to London is part of Air Peace’s continuing network expansion. The airline also recently announced flights to Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire and Cotonou in Benin.
