Etihad and Ethiopian Airlines have announced a strategic joint venture that includes a codeshare arrangement.

The airlines are also launching new flights between Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines will commence services from Addis Ababa to Abu Dhabi on July 15. Flights will depart at 21h50 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 03h10. Return flights will depart at 04h25 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 07h45.

Etihad will introduce daily flights to Addis Ababa from October 1.

ET ups Singapore flights

Ethiopian Airlines will operate five weekly direct flights between Addis Ababa and Singapore from July 4.

The airline currently operates four weekly flights on the route, departing Addis Ababa on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. An additional flight will be scheduled every Friday, according to ttrweekly.com.

TK opens pet lounge

Turkish Airlines has introduced a pet lounge at Istanbul Airport for pets travelling as AVIH (Animals in Hold).

The lounge is a temperature-controlled environment and includes an outdoor terrace and veterinary supervision.

It can accommodate up to 32 dogs, 36 cats, and 10 birds at once. For security reasons, travellers themselves will not have access to the lounge as it is in a restricted airside area.

Pets can access the lounge if their departing flight has a layover of at least 60 minutes and if their connecting flight has a layover of at least 75 minutes before take-off.
