Vancouver International Airport is introducing two mini therapy horses to comfort passengers dealing with the stress of travel.
Mini horses, Magic (three years old) and Tinkerbell (17 years old) will make scheduled visits throughout the airport’s terminal this summer, offering passengers a unique moment of calm before take-off.
Magic and Tinkerbell are joining the programme on a trial basis from a local organisation specialising in equine-assisted activities to improve well-being. Both horses are professionally trained in high-traffic public settings.
In 2017, the airport introduced the Less Airport Stress Initiative to reduce travel anxiety and enhance well-being. The introduction of mini horses will build on the programme’s success with ambassador dogs.
