Air travel round-up: New Entebbe-London route

Uganda Airlines will begin non-stop flights between Entebbe and London beginning May 18.

Flights will operate using an Airbus A330-800neo four times per week. The new service will provide a connection for flights from Johannesburg.

Ethiopian to launch flights to Sharjah

Ethiopian Airlines will launch new flights to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on June 1.

Flight ET 622, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, will depart Addis Ababa at 22h05 and arrive Sharjah at 03h25. The return flight ET 623, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, will depart Sharjah at 04h25 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 07h45.

BA resumes Tel Aviv route

British Airways resumed its first daily flight between London Heathrow and Tel Aviv on April 5, and is set to introduce a second daily flight on April 20.

Flight BA404 departs Heathrow at 21h15 and arrives in Tel Aviv at 04h20, the following day. The return flight BA405 departs Tel Aviv at 06h05 and arrives in Heathrow at 09h35.

From April 20, the second daily flight BA402 will depart Heathrow at 08h00 and arrive in Tel Aviv at 15h05. The return flight BA403 will depart Tel Aviv at 16h30 and arrive in Heathrow at 19h50.

Delta opens largest Sky Club at ATL

Delta Air Lines has officially opened its largest Delta Sky Club at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), expanding its lounge network with a 2 230sqm facility in Concourse D.

The new Club seats more than 500 guests and is the airline’s eighth lounge at ATL.

The opening comes as part of Delta’s broader investment in Atlanta, including an ongoing expansion of Concourse D to accommodate larger aircraft and streamline passenger movement. Delta also plans to refresh existing Sky Clubs on Concourses A and C.

Air France opens redesigned lounge at CDG

Air France unveiled its redesigned lounge in terminal 2E, hall K at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport on April 2.

A new floor has been added, spreading the lounge over three levels and 200 additional seats have increased the total capacity to nearly 640.

Open daily from 05h30 to 23h30, the lounge offers a space to relax and unwind as well as a co-working space and a meeting room to attend online meetings.

BA adds Italian routes

British Airways will add three new Italian routes to its network next month.

The airline will fly from London Heathrow to Rimini on the Adriatic Coast on May 15 and from London Gatwick to Salerno on the Amalfi Coast on May 22.

A new service from London City to Olbia will begin May 25 and will complement existing flights from Heathrow. 

Etihad launches flights to Peshawar

Etihad Airways will launch flights to Peshawar, Pakistan, on September 29.

Etihad will operate the new route using its Airbus A320, which has eight business-class and 150 economy seats.

The route will initially operate five times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, moving to daily flights on November 22.

Singapore Airlines suspends world's longest stopover flight

Singapore Airlines has suspended what was the world’s longest route incorporating a stopover. It connected Singapore and Houston via Manchester and was cancelled due to insufficient demand.

The journey, in operation since October 2016, lasted just over 26 hours. The airline will continue serving Manchester Airport with five weekly nonstop flights.

The world’s longest stopover flight now belongs to French carrier Aircalin, connecting Noumea to Paris via Bangkok. It takes just over 25 and a half hours.
