Ryanair reduces Greek flights

Ryanair will reduce flights to Greece by closing its Thessaloniki base and reducing capacity at Athens Airport for the northern winter season.

Ryanair’s reduced schedule for Greece will result in:

  • The three aircraft removed from its Thessaloniki base
  • The reduction of Athens flights, resulting in the loss of 700 000 seats (45% less than the winter season last year)
  • The removal of 12 routes, including Thessaloniki to Berlin, Chania, Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Heraklion, Niederrhein, Poznan, Stockholm, Venice-T, Zagreb, and Athens to Milan-Malpensa, and Chania to Paphos.

The airline cited high airport costs as the reason for the reductions.
