Air Zimbabwe is planning to relaunch flights between Harare and London by June as part of its revival plan.
John Mangudya, CEO of the Mutapa Investment Fund, Zimbabwe's sovereign wealth fund established to manage the country’s investments and entities, including Air Zimbabwe, made the announcement at a public lecture at the Harare Institute of Technology.
“We are putting in place a facility to lease a bigger aircraft, maybe a Boeing, to fly the Harare-London route,” said Mangudya.
He also laid out plans to improve domestic and regional frequencies. “We are reviving Air Zimbabwe by leasing aircraft so that it can increase the frequency of its flights locally, regionally and go international.” He said the government had authorised the sale of the Boeing 777 and that the money could then be used for new aircraft for domestic flights.
