Airlines halt Israel flights

European and US airlines cancelled flights to Tel Aviv this week after a missile fired by Yemen's Houthi rebels landed near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport on May 4.

Several airlines have suspended flights up to the end of Wednesday, May 7.

According to Reuters, Delta Air Lines cancelled Sunday’s flight from JFK to Tel Aviv and the Monday return flight from Tel Aviv. United has cancelled its twice daily flights between Tel Aviv and Newark as it monitors the situation.

Lufthansa Group, (including Lufthansa, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines), has halted flights until May 6 and ITA Airways until May 7.

British Airways, Air France, Emirates and Turkish Airlines have also suspended flights, possibly up to May 7, according to Travel Tomorrow.

Airlines began resuming flights to Israel in January, following a ceasefire, after halting them from October 7, 2023.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack and warned they would mount an air blockade on Israel by persistently targeting its airports.
