Airlink has announced the resumption of its Nelspruit-Livingstone service from May 1. This will enable travellers to combine the Victoria Falls with the Kruger National Park and surrounding areas.

The airline is also starting Johannesburg-Livingstone flights on May 26. The new service augments Airlink’s presence in Zambia, provided by its daily services between Johannesburg and Lusaka, and the copperbelt hub of Ndola.

Airlink ceo and md, Rodger Foster, said there was pent-up demand among local and international travellers to visit the region, which is home to some of the world’s most spectacular sights and destinations.  “With COVID-19 vaccination programmes ramping up in some of our traditional markets, we are seeing the first signs of light after a devastating 2020. Our Livingstone flights, together with our recently-launched mainline South African domestic services, put some of the region’s key tourist destinations within easy and convenient reach.

“With our modern fleet and strict compliance with bio-safety measures, Airlink is able to support the safe revival of tourism and the increased economic activity it stimulates in Zambia,” he said.

The schedule from May 1 is:

Nelspruit-Livingstone-Johannesburg
4Z 470 departs Nelspruit at 11h40, arriving in Livingstone at 13h35;
4Z 485 departs Livingstone at 14h10 to arrive in Johannesburg at 16h05.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

From May 26, the route Johannesburg-Livingstone-Johannesburg takes effect.
4Z 482 departs Johannesburg at 11h00, arriving in Livingstone at 12h45.
4Z 483 departs Livingstone at 13h25, arriving in Johannesburg at 15h20.
Flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Airlink’s economy-class fares include a 20kg checked-in luggage allowance plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance.
