BA, Iberia increase Distribution Technology Charge

International Airlines Group’s British Airways and Iberia are to increase their Distribution Technology Charge.

The charge will be applied to BA and IB marketed fares (including BA and IB fares valid on codeshare partners) which are not booked through an NDC-based connection, or other low-cost channels such as the airlines’ websites or call centres. The airline has previously said that this charge recovers the additional costs to BA/IB for bookings that are not made using an NDC-based connection, the IAG agency booking portals, or another low-cost channel.

From May 31, the charge applied will increase from US$12 (R170) to $14 (R199) and will apply to all bookings ticketed on or before this date.

If a booking is originated in the GDS using existing connection methods, then the Distribution Technology Charge will apply, regardless of whether subsequent servicing and ticketing is done by BA or IB, its GSAs, or by the agent in BA/IB NDC-based systems.
