British Airways will launch new direct flights from London Heathrow to Tbilisi from March 30, 2025.

The four weekly flights will offer access to the popular capital of Georgia, a country well known for its rich history, culture and picturesque landscapes.

“We expect this to be a popular route with the leisure market, which has seen a strong comeback since 2019, as well as with those looking to enjoy direct flights," said Neil Chernoff, BA Chief Planning and Strategy Officer.

The country lays claim to being the birthplace of wine, with an 8 000-year-old history of winemaking. It also contains evidence of very early gold mining activities by ancient civilisations. Today the economy has a large agricultural component.

Tbilisi is on the banks of the Mtkvari River and offers easy access to popular attractions across the country.

Tourist attractions include the canyons and caves near Kutaisi and multiple Unesco World Heritage Sites such as the historic monument of Mtskheta, the Gelati Monastery, the Upper Svaneti village and the Colchic Rainforest and Wetlands.
