The 'Captain' takes control at Waterfont hotel

THE fourth Mercure hotel - owned by French group, Accor - will open at one of Johannesburg's 'Big Five' attractions, the Randburg Waterfront, on October 1 with Bradley Captain taking the helm as newly appointed general manager.
Captain told Travel Now that the first month would be seen as a "soft opening" where the usual "teething problems" could be anticipated and ironed out.
Captain, who was employed at Mercure Hotel, Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, says the 104-room hotel will be using the South African Central Reservations and Sales Office system, which was launched recently at the Mercure Inn Bedfordview. Travel agents can reserve rooms in any of Accor's 3 400 hotels worldwide on their GDS terminals.
Nicole Atkinson took up her duties as sales executive at the hotel this month. She hails from the insurance industry and will be responsible for the marketing of the Randburg Mercure Hotel.
