The Civil Aviation Administration of China has approved the Type Certificate, Standard Airworthiness Certificate and the world’s first Production Certificate for unmanned eVTOLs.

The approved aircraft, EH216-S, created by EHang, an autonomous aerial vehicle producer, can accommodate two passengers and luggage with a maximum weight of 620kg on flights over distances of 30km.

To obtain its Type Certificate and Standard Airworthiness Certificate, the EH216-S had to undergo more than 500 specific test items, more than 40 000 test flights and validation tests encompassing over 450 individual test items.

The certifications authorise EHang to manufacture the eVTOLs and operate its aircraft.
