Coronavirus – cruise ships change itineraries

The following cruise lines have cancelled or adjusted sailings and itineraries in response to the continuous spread of the coronavirus.

Celebrity Cruises cancelled the Millennium’s February 15 sailing and modified the point of boarding for the Constellation sailing on February 16. Passengers will now embark the Constellation in Dubai.

Cunard has amended its Queen Mary 2 Australia itinerary to avoid embarking in Singapore. Passengers who were initially set to join the ship in Singapore for sailings on February 12/13 or February 18/19, will now have the option to join in Fremantle on February18/19.

The ship will set sail from Fremantle on February 19 for an Australian itinerary, as follows:

February 24          Darwin

February 25          Darwin

February 29         Yorkeys Knob

Following Yorkeys Knob the ship will sail to Airlie Beach on its original schedule, after which the voyage remains unchanged. Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth is no longer calling at Hong Kong on March 31 and Shanghai on April 4. Details of this revised itinerary will be announced as soon as possible.

MSC Splendida was deployed in Asia for winter 2019/20. MSC cruises has cancelled its next three four- and five-night scheduled sailings from Shanghai, and will reposition it to Singapore to start a 27-night ‘Grand Voyage’ to the Middle East and Europe on February 14.

The cruise line says there have been no reported cases among passengers or crew on board MSC Splendida while it served the Asia market throughout the winter.

Norwegian Cruise Line ships are not calling at ports in Mainland China. NCL also says it has flexibility to alter itineraries as needed to avoid areas of concern.

“All itineraries that call in Mainland China for the next six months are currently under review and we will communicate any itinerary revisions as soon as possible.”
