Correction: Dubrovnik City Walls to implement booking system

In our previous article, Travel News incorrectly stated that Dubrovnik would impose a €40 (R820) daily entrance fee for all day trippers from 2026. In fact, the new booking system applies specifically to access to the City Walls. Individual visitors won’t pay an extra levy, but will need to plan visits in line with real-time crowd predictions.

Dubrovnik’s Mayor, Mato Franković, told The Independent that from the beginning of next year, travellers would need to reserve the day and time of their visit.

Visitors will be required to obtain a Dubrovnik Pass for entry to museums, galleries, monasteries, and the City Walls.

In its first phase, the booking system will apply only to agency visitors and organised groups. Individual visitors will not need to book in advance, but will be expected to plan their visits according to real-time crowd predictions and available capacity, which will be published on the Dubrovnik Pass website.

Detailed booking and visiting instructions will be provided before the system goes live at the end of this year.

This measure follows others aimed at reducing the impact of overtourism, including restrictions on cruise ship calls and a booking system for coach operators visiting the city.
