DELTA Air Lines has unveiled the details of its new year-round non-stop service between Cape Town and Atlanta, due to start on October 25, subject to government approvals, as originally reported in Travel News on May 29.

The airline will operate an Airbus A350-900 on the route.  On the inbound leg, the flight will stop in Johannesburg before continuing to Cape Town. Delta’s flights between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Atlanta are scheduled as follows:

Johannesburg at 15h45 (next day)

“As we return service to our key international markets, we are looking forward to starting this new flight from Cape Town, offering customers more opportunities to fly between South Africa and the United States,” said Joe Esposito, senior vp Network Planning.

Delta says it will offer additional flexibility with tickets to give customers extra peace of mind, should they need it. Additionally, the carrier says customers travelling between South Africa and the United States will see Delta’s  ‘new standard of clean’ measures (a set of hygiene procedures that ensure COVID-19 safety) on the flights.

Tim Harris, ceo of Wesgro, welcomed the introduction of another direct flight from North America to the Cape and said it held the promise of increased tourism, trade and investment once international inbound travel resumed.
