Emerald swaps Seychelles for Caribbean cruises

Emerald Cruises will redeploy the Emerald Azzurra in December, cancelling its Seychelles and Safari itinerary in favour of new Caribbean trips.

Scenic Cruises said the itineraries had been adjusted to prioritise the safety of passengers. “Our decision aligns with changes in the Red Sea conditions,” said Ken Muskat, MD of Scenic Group USA. The group added that it was responding to strong demand for Caribbean sailings.

In addition to its existing 15-day Discover the Yachting Islands cruise that sails to the Caribbean’s smaller ports and lesser-known islands, Emerald has created two new itineraries, which will run from December 7, 2024, to February 22, 2025. A shorter eight-day trip, Caribbean Yachting Hideaways, will explore Caribbean ports that are not accessible by a larger vessel. Another eight-day itinerary, Caribbean Yachting Discovery, will spend the majority of its time anchored, allowing guests access to secluded beaches.

This will replace the 18-day Safari and Seychelles itinerary, which would have cruised around the islands of the Seychelles in addition to six nights on land for a safari experience in Kenya, according to a press release from the cruise line.

Emerald Cruises is represented by Cruise Vacations in the South African market.
