Etihad and Airlink partner up

Etihad Airways has launched a reciprocal interline agreement with Airlink.

This means travellers will now enjoy enhanced connectivity to destinations across both networks, can book on a single ticket and only have to check in once at the start of their flight, with their baggage checked through to their end destination.

The partnership with Airlink South Africa will open up domestic and regional African destinations via Johannesburg, which Etihad serves with five weekly flights. Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue Officer, said: “Our deal with Airlink South Africa gives connecting guests via our Johannesburg flight, seamless access to 16 domestic destinations in South Africa, and 25 regional African destinations, and it complements our existing options with South African Airways.”

The airline says the expanded interline and other codeshare offerings will be progressively rolled out across Etihad sales channels over the coming weeks.

Etihad has simultaneously formed interline agreements with Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Austrian Airlines (OS), while re-launching interline links with Biman Bangladesh.

Additionally, the airline has signed codeshares with Air Seychelles (HM) and ITA Airways (AZ).

Etihad says the agreement with Philippine Airlines will open up access to 19 domestic destinations, including Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Kalibo, with Etihad serving Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) twice daily.

With Austrian Airlines, Etihad can connect to up to 58 European destinations via Vienna International Airport (VIE), served by a daily Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in the summer.
