EU to implement retaliatory tariffs

The European Union plans to impose tariffs on Boeing aircraft as part of its proposals for further retaliation if current trade talks with the US fail.

The Trump Administration has implemented a 20% tariff on the European Union, which is expected to hike the prices and impact the supply of aircraft and aircraft parts for European airlines, as reported by Travel News.

The tariff has been temporarily cut to 10%, allowing 90 days for trade talks between the US and EU. The cut tariff is set to expire on July 8.

The European Commission will include civilian aircraft on a list of about $120 billion (R2,2 trillion) annual US imports to be targeted. This would include nearly 1 200 commercial aircraft that European airlines and lessors currently have on order with Boeing, reports Simple Flying.
