From 1 July, international coach firm Eurolines, part of the National Express Group, will launch a direct service between London Victoria Coach Station and Schiphol Airport. The coach will carry passengers overnight from London, arriving at Schiphol in the early morning.
After the recent flight disruptions following the volcanic eruptions in Iceland, the link could be a useful one during periods of ash disruption and airspace closure. It could also prove a cheaper option for connecting with international flights from Schiphol, as passengers will avoid Air Passenger Duty (APD). The new service follows the success of a similar link between London and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Following this announcement, Eurolines has recently met with The Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move) and Airports Council International (ACI) to discuss ways to improve the passenger experience of cross-border coach travellers, including improving access to European airport terminals.
