Fancourt has officially opened The Links Experience in George. The newly designed nine-hole golf course was created by world-famous golfer and course architect Gary Player. It replaces the former Bramble golf course with a flexible playing experience suitable for golfers of all ages and skill levels.

The vision for The Links Experience began in 2022 when Fancourt owner Hasso Plattner and golf course architect Johann Jacobs explored ways to enhance the estate’s golf offerings. Player was brought in to design a course that balances beauty, challenge and accessibility.

“It’s a beautiful layout with lots of soft grasses and coloured bunkers – something very different,” said Player. “I designed this to give people pleasure, particularly elderly people, and it’s very versatile with the fact that you can choose par 3, 4 or 5 or play strictly as a par 3. It’s a thing of beauty that gives everyone a challenge – young and old.”

The par 34 layout consists of:

  • One par 5

  • Three par 3s

  • Five par 4s

  • Dedicated par 3 tee boxes for an alternative short-course experience

Each hole has a distinctive name enhancing the course’s character:

1.Wamkelekile

2.Down the hill

3.It’ll be a skoosh

4.Devil’s elbow

5.Low land

6.Beag

7.Wide

8.Mulligan

9.Up the hill
