FLY Blue Crane cannot
confirm the official launch
date of its long-awaited Cape
Town-Windhoek route as
there are still ‘aircraft issues’
that need to be ironed out,
says coo, Theunis Potgieter.
The airline announced in
April that it had received
approval from the South
African and Namibian
authorities to launch services
between the two cities. The
inaugural flight from Cape
Town to Windhoek took place
on July 13 and the return
flight on July 15, but sales
for the route have not yet
opened as no launch date
for scheduled operations has
been confirmed.
The airline also plans to
launch flights to Mozambique
but cannot announce when
operations will commence
due to similar issues relating
to the airline’s aircraft, says
Theunis.
“With regard to the
Windhoek and Mozambique
routes, we have no dates or
timelines to announce at this
stage,” he told TNW
