FRA starts testing Auracast

Frankfurt Airport has started testing Auracast, a broadcast technology that delivers audio announcements to Bluetooth-enabled devices. Passengers with hearing aids, earbuds and smart phones can connect to a specific broadcast channel to receive real-time updates about boarding calls, gate changes and flight delays.

The service is expected to be tested over a two-month period at gates A16 and A17 in Terminal 1.

The ultimate goal is to enable more inclusive travel for hearing-impaired passengers while creating a quieter environment across the entire airport.
