SAS Scandinavian Airlines has announced that it will cancel 1 000 flights in April due to high jet fuel prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
The airline’s CEO, Anko van der Werff, told the Swedish business publication Dagens Industri, that the airline had already cancelled a few hundred flights in March.
"The price of jet fuel has doubled in 10 days. Even if we try to absorb cost increases as much as possible, this is a shock that directly hits the airline industry," said van der Werff.
SAS is a member of SkyTeam and has codeshare agreements with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic.
