Glass 'half-full' for new hotel

THE R55m Village at Spier, an exclusive 150-room village-style hotel being developed on the Spier wine estate at Stellenbosch, held its official roof-wetting ceremony earlier this month to celebrate that construction is ahead of schedule for its November 1 opening.
Guests were treated to a tour of the Village complex and enjoyed a taste of the cuisine that will be on offer at the soon-to-be-completed Figaro's restaurant.
Melissa Naude from HWB Communications - Spier's public relations and marketing company - says interest in the Village is such that the hotel is already booked to more than half its capacity for its November opening.
"As the second-largest conference venue in Cape Town, it has naturally attracted the corporate market, but there are also a number of FIT bookings for December and January."
