ACCORDING to newspaper reports, Air Zimbabwe has turned to government for financial assistance in an effort to put an end to the current pilot strike.

It is believed that with the current strike, the airline has already lost US$2 million, but no official confirmation is available on whether or not the airline will receive government assistance.

Air Zimbabwe board chairperson, Jonathan Kadzura, confirmed that management met representatives of the government, but did not disclose much detail.

A statement on the airline’s website advised that flights remained suspended as a result of the industrial action by its pilots and that negotiations were continuing with the pilots to resolve the issues and resume operations as soon as possible. The airline continued to say that passengers would be advised of any new developments in due course.

*Do you make use of the airline’s services on a regular basis? Have any of your clients been affected by the current industrial action? What support are your receiving from the airline to refund or re-accommodate passengers? Let us know by replying to the editor.
