Hilton and Umfolozi Hotel and Spa have signed an agreement for the development of Umfolozi River Hotel in KwaZulu-Natal. The signing marks the brand’s second Tapestry Collection property in South Africa within the past year. The hotel is expected to open in 2028.
“With 12 hotels trading and in the pipeline across the country, and plans to open more than 100 hotels in Africa, we remain focused on providing more ways to stay for our guests by strengthening our portfolio and introducing more of our award-winning brands to key destinations across the continent,” says Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s Senior Vice President for Development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The property will feature 102 guest rooms and suites along with an all-day dining restaurant, lobby café and bar, spa, gym and swimming pool. It will also include two meeting rooms and a ballroom designed for corporate events and social gatherings.
Located with access to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi game reserve and iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the hotel will be operated by Valor Hospitality Partners.
