Singapore-based company, TouristPads, has launched a new service where visitors to the country can rent an iPad and use it to find useful information about things to do and what to see.
Travellers can rent their iPads on www.touristpads.com for around R255 a day. A deposit of R6800 is blocked on their credit card to ensure the iPad is returned in good condition and is unblocked once the iPad is returned.
Tourists will have access to high-speed 3G, allowing them to make Skype calls and surf the net. The iPads come with apps to help visitors find their way around, with maps and other useful tourist information. Some apps can be used to book shows, travel or accommodation. Photos can be taken and videos recorded and they can be saved or uploaded to social networking sites.
