AHMED Talaat, director and
chairman of ATL Tours, who is
still behind bars, has vowed to
pay back everyone to whom he
owes money.
He was arrested on
January 8 after more than
40 customers came forward
late last year to open cases
of fraud against ATL Tours
(see TNW January 22).
Ahmed appeared in court
on February 6 for a fourth
bail hearing, which was
again denied.
According to Andre van
Wyk, senior investigator
at Forensic Data Solutions
(FDS), the tour operator
vowed in court he would
reimburse everyone to
whom he owed money.
Ahmed’s attorney, Nadeem
Mahomed, informed the
court that arrangements
had been made to transfer
monies back from Egypt,
Ahmed’s home country,
to South Africa into a
trust account from where
arrangements would be
made to reimburse affected
parties.
Ahmed’s case was
postponed until February 17
to make provision for the
transfer of funds.
