JNB-TLV flights continue

The onset of war between Israel and Hamas has prompted airport closures in Israel, but Ben Gurion Airport remains open and El Al’s flights from Johannesburg to Tel Aviv for Tuesday, October 10, and Thursday, October 12 will, as at Monday October 9, continue as per the schedule, according to its reservations call centre.

Several airlines, including Emirates, have retained their normal flight schedules to Israel. Etihad is believed to have cancelled only some, but not all flights.

Virgin has kept some flights from London, but has cancelled others and has said it would relook at the situation on Tuesday, October 10. It’s allowing rebookings and cancellations without penalties. British Airways has a similar policy, and is not cancelling flights, but adjusting flying times, according to Simple Flying.

But many carriers have cancelled services to Tel Aviv, among them Air France, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Emirates, Iberia Express, LOT, Turkish and Aegean Airlines.

From the US, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines have all suspended their Tel Aviv-bound flights.
