Letter to the editor: Corporate clients let down

I have two clients who had to travel to Luanda, Angola. They were set to depart on March 15 from Johannesburg and were travelling with clients to do business.

My clients applied for two seven-day visas to Angola and were promised that these would be ready on March 14 (the day before departure). When the driver got to consulate, the person who signs the visas was not there and the driver was told that the visas were ready but not signed. I then advised the consulate that the clients were businessmen and due to travel on March 15. The consulate’s reply was “come back tomorrow”.

The clients now have to pay a penalty to change tickets to travel on March 16 and cut one day’s business with their clients.

The attitude and assistance at the consulate is absolutely disgusting, to say the least.

I am so upset and I feel that I have let my clients down so badly and there is nothing I can do!
