Lufthansa and SWISS have announced a new unilateral codeshare with Airlink.

Now, agents can book clients flying from George, Gqeberha, Durban, or East London on Lufthansa’s long-haul connections to Frankfurt from Johannesburg and Cape Town, all on one booking.

Likewise, inbound passengers may also be booked on a single Lufthansa booking from Europe through either Johannesburg or Cape Town, then travelling seamlessly onward to their final destination of George, Gqeberha, East London or Durban.

The codeshare also allows seamless baggage service, with luggage checked through to its final destination.

The Lufthansa Group has also announced the restoration of the Lufthansa and SWISS codeshare with SAA, see here.

“We are very pleased to announce our new codeshare agreements with South African Airways and Airlink as these partnerships allow us to offer greater flexibility and a larger variety to our customers in the Southern African region,” said Matthias Lefèvre, General Manager Sales Lufthansa Group Airlines for Southern Africa. “Our customers now have the possibility of booking their entire journey on one single Lufthansa ticket and thus providing a seamless travel experience.”

Airlines within the Lufthansa Group offer more than 35 weekly connections from South Africa to their hubs in Europe.
