New itinerary for Spanish luxury train
Spain’s luxury Al Ándalus train service will operate a new itinerary for the 2026 season from April to October.
The 1930s train will begin and end its journey in Madrid, with a new seven-day, six-night itinerary, focusing on Spanish heritage, gastronomy and landscapes. The train will stop at popular cities and attractions, including Seville, Córdoba, Jerez de la Frontera, Toledo and the Royal Palace of Aranjuez. New destinations include Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid.
A luxury coach and multilingual guide will be available to facilitate excursions, according to Independent.
The itinerary includes admission to all scheduled visits, breakfasts, lunches and dinners on board or in local restaurants and on-board activities, such as live music and performances and an end-of-trip gala dinner.
Rocky Mountaineer launches new route
The Rocky Mountaineer has launched a new ‘Passage to the Peaks’ route for June and July, 2026.
The new route takes a break from the Mountaineer's usual journey through the West Coast, with new stops in Edmonton, Jasper, Banff, Calgary, Kamloops and Lake Louise.
Travellers can choose from one-, five-, seven- or nine-night packages, with selected packages offering overnight stays in some towns. Passengers can also select packages that connect to Calgary and Edmonton airports.
The train’s panoramic glass roof provides views of landscapes including glacial lakes, deep valleys, mountain ranges and forests along the Canadian Rockies.
Plans for New York-LA train
AmeriStarRail is planning a new rail route between Los Angeles and New York City in less than 72 hours by next year.
The coast-to-coast Transcontinental Chief is expected to be operational by May 10, ahead of the US’s 250th birthday and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The plans are still subject to operating agreements with various host railroads, according to USA Today.
The Transcontinental Chief would replace the Southwest Chief and the Pennsylvanian Amtrak routes that currently operate between Southern California and New York via stops in Chicago or Harrisburg
