Lufthansa cuts CPT

15 Feb 2021

The Lufthansa Group has adjusted its South African timetable and suspended its direct flights between Frankfurt and Cape Town until further notice.

This follows the decision by the German government to bar entry from South Africa, eSwatini and Lesotho which is in effect until February 17, but may be extended, depending on the development of the pandemic.

The good news is that the flights from Frankfurt, by Lufthansa,  and Zurich, by Swiss, to Johannesburg will remain at three flights a week each.

“In the current global situation, entry regulations for various destinations, including our hubs in Austria, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, as well as the mandatory mask mandate, may change at very short notice,” said Lufthansa gm Southern Africa and East Asia, Dr André Schulz.
