Luxury hotels planned for Leyja

Three new high-end hotels have been confirmed for Leyja, the recently announced sustainable tourism destination at NEOM – a US$500 billion (R9,5trn) mixed-use development in the northwestern part of Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Province.

The artists’ impressions of the hotels depict striking architecture raised from within the valley, carved among 400-metre peaks. The Wellness hotel has been designed with mirrored façades; The Oasis will be naturally rock-shaped, while Adventure will comprise a series of buildings to create a stepped edifice set against the mountainside.

“Leyja builds on NEOM’s ongoing commitment to becoming a multi-faceted destination and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong tourism industry under Saudi Vision 2030. As a luxury eco-tourism location, Leyja reflects broader conservation ambitions, while providing an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves within the incredible natural landscapes of the region,” says the official website for the development.

Some 95% of the Leyja project will be dedicated to creating a nature reserve. Its built structures will be created using “innovative ecological design with construction techniques that integrate with the environment”, reports designboom.com.
