Access to Machu Picchu could become significantly easier once Peru’s new Chinchero International Airport opens, although the project has been delayed to 2027.
The Peruvian government first broke ground in August 2018, but delays have pushed back the anticipated opening date from 2026 to 2027, reported Travel Pulse.
According to information published by WSP, the consulting firm tasked with supervising earth-moving works of the project, the development is estimated to cost around US$665m (R10,5bn).
