The Ministry of Tourism of Maldives has requested that all tourist establishments on the islands cancel local island-to-island excursion trips, starting March 8.
This means that tour operators can longer offer tourists visits to the local islands during their stay but establishments operating in the area say there is no need to panic.
Wholesale tour operator, The Holiday Factory, says this shouldn’t affect passengers in any way because individual resorts still offer resort excursions, unique to each resort. This could include a variety of activities including sunset cruises and dolphin watching.
As part of the Ultimate All Inclusive Plan, Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa will stop with immediate effect Local Island Explore excursion and will not replace it until further notice.
