Earlier this month, Maldives inaugurated Hanimaadhoo International Airport, a new international airport in the northern region.
The airport was designated as an international airport in 2012 but upgrade works faced lengthy delays, with improvements to infrastructure only completed recently.
Hanimaadhoo has a 2 465-metre runway and an aerobridge, the only other airport in Maldives besides Velana International Airport, with this feature.
The 10 380sqm terminal is equipped with modern facilities to support efficient operations and has capacity to handle 1,3 million passengers annually.
